Thinking ahead
Although we are all worried about this coming year and how to improve the team so they can return to the play-offs. I get nervous when it looks like 2009 is the only thing we are worried about. If Damon leaves after this year. Who will be our lead-off hitter Jeter is grate but will be even older and his wrist injury affected his hitting not his legs last year yet there was a fall off in his speed and base-stealing that i believe lead to many of the double plays he hit into. With Jeter stealing less and getting even slower I don't see him leading off. Gardner is the only option i see filling this important spot, not only is he fast he is selective which allows the hitters behind him to see more pitches before they even get in the batters box. Now don't think I am giving him the job, we don't even know if he is able to hit major league pitching but if we don't give him a chance to prove himself this year what will we do next year for a lead off hitter rehire Damon for too many years as a quick fix. That's how we got where we are with to many older players with no trade clauses. If we are going to turn things around we must look to the future and plan accordingly.

Happy New Year
I was sorry to see that many people are still thinking that trading Cano is a good thing. Instead of being happy that he is having a good showing in winter ball and maybe last year was not the beginning of the end, but just a blip in his growth towards becoming one of the best 2ND baseman of our time. what I see today are a lot of people hoping that this will raise his value so he can be traded. My thoughts on the subject are that a 2ND baseman with the potential both offensively and defensively come along only once in a long time, where as outfielders with the same potential are not hard to find. Look at just his stats and compare them with the other 2ND baseman in the AL, instead of with what we hoped for, and I believe you will see that Cano did not have that bad of a year and compares favorable. And that was in a down year. No don't give up on the youth movement just because of a bumpy year, and definitely don't give up on Cano. If we do I believe we will regret it
